    TAG-KS and Petra National Trust (PNT) Sign a Cooperation Agreement for Training 20 Ma’ani Teachers in the Field of Cultural Heritage Preservation and English Language

    Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Society (TAG-KS) and the Petra National Trust (PNT), signed a Cooperation Agreement to train 20 teachers from Maan in the fields of English language and cultural heritage preservation training sponsored by the Jordanian Phosphate Mines Company.

    The agreement that was signed by HRH Princess Dana Firas, the President of the Petra National Trust (PNT), and HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Society (TAG-KS), comes as part of a series of projects that Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh initiated in Ma’an and other governorates in the southern region of Jordan. The objective of the agreement is to serve the educational sector in the southern region of Jordan through training teachers in English Language and in developing their knowledge and enhancing their confidence in using interactive methodologies to deliver curricula to their students.

     

    Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh welcomed HRH Dana Firas and indicated that he is pleased to discuss cooperation between the two organizations in the field of education – specifically the Training of Teachers interactive modern teaching techniques with a focus on cultural heritage & English training courses. He added, “TAG-Org and Cambridge University have an agreement for Teaching IT Skills and English language, and we are looking forward to cooperate with Petra National Trust in cultural heritage preservation in Jordan.”

    expressed her pride in this cooperation and stressed that the agreement will enable teachers to play a more effective role in educating children about the importance of their cultural heritage and its preservation, encourage them to be creative, use critical thinking techniques, and instilling a sense of identity and pride in their cultural and natural heritage.

    The agreement signed by both parties, stems for the mutual understanding and visions of the need to work with public and private organizations, locally and internationally, through finding common grounds to cooperate, coordinate, and streamline efforts to benefit the local communities wherever they are.

    Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said, “TAG-Org is working on launching an examination, similar to TOEFL and IELTS, in testing Arabic Language fluency level, which will be accredited by the League of Arab States”.

    stressed on the importance of the Southern governorates and his motivation in continuously working on implementing development projects that serve in enhancing the local residents’ skills and experience with the objective of giving them the right tools to compete in today’s highly competitive labor markets.  He added that this project does not focus on education skills only, but rather a holistic set of skills in-line with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision and directives to develop all sectors across Jordan.

     

    HRH Princess Dana Firas thanked Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for his initiatives in supporting community based projects in the Kingdom’s different governorate to develop these regions and to serve its local communities.

    During the signing ceremony, the two parties discussed ways of cooperation to support and assist the local communities in the Petra Region, where Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh announced that his interest in establishing a Knowledge Station (TAG-KS) in Petra in collaboration with the Petra National Trust. The Knowledge Station will become a destination for children and youth from the six villages surrounding Petra to meet, get acquainted with the various programs the two organizations have to offer, and broaden their horizons through giving them access to modern and diversified communication means.

    The expected outcomes of the project are for the teacher to get acquainted with modern interactive teaching methods, as well as develop their reading, writing, and English speaking skills, and to enable them to communicate their ideas and thoughts to non-Arabic speakers satisfactorily.
