    In a signing ceremony that was attended by local media representatives, Umniah – the fastest growing telecom service provider in Jordan – and the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Society (TAG-Knowledge) signed a partnership agreement on Monday, the 19th of April 2010, at the Talal Abu Ghazaleh Knowledge Community in Amman. The agreement was signed by HE Dr. Talal Abu Ghazaleh, the founder and CEO of the Talal Abu Ghazaleh Group, and Mr. Ihab Hinnawi, CEO of Umniah, a partnership agreement to strengthen the role of knowledge in developing the economy.

    The agreement reflects Umniah's strong belief in the mission and work of TAG-Knowledge which was established as part of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) in order to present initiatives that seek to establish competitive knowledge economies through the provision of resources and support towards this societal goal.

     
    Commenting on this signing, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman and CEO of TAG-Org, said: "The most important element of the social responsibility we are committing to today is the element of continuity and our commitment to the ongoing search for young people that deserve this support and appreciation.     Under this partnership agreement, Umniah will become the exclusive telecommunications provider to TAG-Knowledge, whereby all its comprehensive services shall be made available to TAG-Knowledge through the provision of services and specialized mobile, fixed and wireless Internet (UMAX ), in addition to other business solutions.

    This partnership will also focus on important knowledge and scientific aspects. Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding students under the ‘Umniah and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Scholarship Fund for Masters Degrees’ from the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business.

    Furthermore, Umniah will give the opportunity to 30 students to complete the requirements for undergraduate training at different departments within the company, including the Customer Services Center, and the Information Technology and Engineering Department at Umniah will provide them with an opportunity to witness a practical working environment and engage in different activities through this unique experience.


    The agreement also stipulates that both institutions will plan social and sporting activities for the students of TAG-Knowledge aimed at involving them in activities beyond their specified curriculums.


    Through this agreement, both companies will be launching a joint training program entitled the ‘Umniah and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Society Initiative’ for university students and in particular underprivileged students.


    This training program will provide university students with training courses in information technology and other self development skills such as writing CVs and tips for conducting job interviews. Under this program, identified employees at Umniah will receive specialized training at TAG-Knowledge so that they will in turn conduct these courses for the students.
