I have an idea for a client but I need more time to develop it fully. Should I wait until it is finalized or "alert" the client now that I am working on this?

Timing can be everything. Err in the direction of letting the client know that you are currently working on an idea but not ready to present it. Why?
• It may influence the direction the client will ultimately take.
• It can help build some healthy anticipation for your proposal.
• It might save you some unnecessary effort (or cause you to rethink your approach) if the initial reaction to your idea is not positive.
• It will help the idea when presented since the client will know that it has taken time to develop.
Tip: Keeping your client informed of what you are working on for them is always a good idea. It can build trust, instill confidence and strengthen existing lines of communication.
